Travel with children
There are unified rules for transportation of children throughout the Russian Federation: an adult passenger may carry one child under 2 years of age free of charge without a separate seat. If there are other children under 2 years old traveling with the passenger, they are transported with partial payment of the fare and provision of separate seats.
When flying to CIS and non-CIS countries, children under 2 years of age are carried at a 90% discount. Children aged from 2 to 12 years are provided with a 50% discount from the normal (base) fare. The age of the child is determined on the day of transportation. Some airlines set a different age limit for transportation of children - you can get information about it when buying a ticket.
Children under 12 years of age are carried only when accompanied by adult passengers. Unaccompanied children from 2 to 12 years of age can be carried under the carrier's supervision only after the parents (adoptive parents, guardians or custodians) make a written application for transportation of the child. At their request, transportation under the carrier's supervision may be extended to children under 16 years of age.
If a minor passenger travels unaccompanied by parents (adoptive parents, guardians, custodians) outside the Russian Federation, he or she must have with him or her, in addition to a passport, a notarized consent of these persons to the departure of a minor citizen of the Russian Federation, indicating the period of departure and the state he or she intends to visit, and if the minor citizen is leaving the Russian Federation for a period of more than three months, this consent must also be certified by the guardianship and custody authorities in accordance with the procedure established by the law.
In the event that one of the parents, adoptive parents, guardians or custodians declares their disagreement to the departure from the Russian Federation of a minor citizen of the Russian Federation, the question of the possibility of his or her departure from the country shall be resolved in court.
